I love to watch people when there is a baby in the room. Don’t we all marvel at how incredible they are to watch and play with? People will see a baby they don’t even know and they will coo and tease a baby. To me, I cannot get over the beautiful gift that a baby is to us all. Being a dad and a grandfather, I love to tickle their chin and get them to smile. I love to see how tight they can squeeze my finger. A child is an awesome gift from God to parents and to the world. The birth of a child is not just impactful to the parents but everyone around and affecting the future ahead.
Can we begin to understand what kind of a person can destroy this sacred gift? Do they simply look at a baby as a thing with pieces and parts? I do not hate a person like that but rather pray that they experience an awakening and an understanding that the child belongs to God. I pray for the mother as well. In Scripture God says, “I knew you before you were formed in the womb.” God has a plan for each and every one of us. It begins with love and love is powerful enough to help anyone through any challenge if we come together.
Our culture today not only accepts shifting blame and not taking responsibility for our actions, but it encourages it with its acceptance and policy making. Rather we should be supportive to the young mother and encourage her to bring the child into the world as God expects. If she is unable to bring the child up then there are plenty of couples hungry to bring a child into their home to love and nurture.
Think for a moment about the real reasons why people think they want an abortion. An extremely small percentage want one because they were raped. The majority believe they made a mistake when they engaged in the act of love irresponsibly. That mistake leads to an embarrassment they would prefer to hide. Two wrongs do not make a right and in this case the second wrong, having an abortion is morally wrong.
God also says, “woe to those who harm the little ones. Even more so woe to the person who leads others to sin.” The one thing we can count on is a reconciliation with God for these transgressions. We can make all kinds of excuses to justify this horrific action, but none will be acceptable on our final day. But know that God is forgiving if we our contrite of heart and change our ways.
Let us not hide our heads in the sand thinking that someone else having an abortion is not our problem when the blood is still on us all by allowing it to happen. It is shameful that millions and millions of dollars and hours are being spent on the debate to Kill or not to Kill babies. Babies are people and not things to be discarded because of inconvenience.
Let us move with love, understanding that every human being belongs to God and is a gift from God. It is our duty to help the mother and the child grow in God’s love.
